- CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake occupational health and safety induction training within the construction industry. A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work.
It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of OHS legislative requirements, and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.
This unit of competency supports the attainment of the basic OHS knowledge required prior to undertaking designated work tasks within any of the sectors within the construction industry. The unit relates directly to the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work (ASCC 2007).
People who require a white card include:
- site managers, supervisors, surveyors, labourers and tradespeople
- people who access operational construction zones (unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person)
- workers whose employment causes them to routinely enter operational construction zones.
The white card becomes void if you have not carried out construction work for two consecutive years or more.
All competent students will receive a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of the above unit of competency as well as be issued with a White Card.
