Course information

Amendments to the Standards for RTOs 2015 came into effect on 1 March 2024. Within these amendments, Secondary School teachers are no longer required to attain a full Certificate IV in Training & Assessment to teach and assess VET.  Those who hold a qualification that enables registration as a secondary school teacher in any state or territory are able to train and assess in any VET context without supervision as long as they hold:

  • the Assessor Skill Set, or
  • the VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set

 

Target group

This skill set is for individuals who are existing secondary school teachers who hold a Bachelor of Education degree or higher, who require VET-specific knowledge and skills.

  • TAEDES412 Design and develop plans for vocational training
  • TAEDES411 Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs
  • TAEASS412 Assess competence
  • TAEASS413 Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEPDD401 Work effectively in the VET sector

 

Course Requirements

  • Computer with reliable internet access
  • Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (or compatible software)
  • Basic computer skills to navigate the Coal Train online learner portal
  • Participants will also be required to undertake an LLN quiz

On successful completion of this course, competent participants will be issued a statement of attainment for TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set
