About This Course

This nationally approved course (WorkSafe Queensland) equips elected Health and Safety Representatives with the knowledge and practical tools to carry out their role under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld).
It blends discussion, practical scenarios, and case-based exercises.

  • Understand Queensland’s WHS legislative framework
  • Clarify the duties of PCBUs, officers, workers and HSRs
  • Consult and communicate effectively on WHS issues
  • Identify, assess and control hazards and risks

Why It Matters

Under WHS law, HSRs must complete this 5-day course within 28 days of election.
Employers are required to release HSRs on paid time and cover training costs.

Participant Requirements

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Provide three forms of evidence of identity on Day 1
  • Basic English literacy and numeracy skills
