This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registration. This qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.

Roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the VET sector. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Enterprise trainer/Enterprise assessor
  • Registered training organisation (RTO) trainer RTO assessor
  • Training adviser or training needs analyst
  • Vocational education teacher

ASSESSMENT METHODS:

We assess you against the requirements of the 10 units of competency for this qualification. We do this by evaluating your responses to questions in the workbooks, plus getting you to complete a number of tasks, such as:

  • A risk analysis
  • Some learning programs
  • Some session plans
  • Facilitating a 30 minute training session during the workshop
  • Facilitating two other session in your own time
  • Facilitate an hour long presentation to the group
  • Planning and implementing two individual learning pathways and wo work based pathways
  • Creating some assessment plans and assessment tools, validating them and also assessing learners

Certificate Issue:

Qualification awarded upon successful completion: A ‘TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment’.

 

NEW TAE40116 CERTIFICATE IV IN TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT RELEASE:

The TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment was superseded on the 6th of April 2016. The transition time to complete this qualification is 18 months. The newest release TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment has the addition of two new units including TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy and TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools. Each RTO will need to reapply to ASQA to obtain the new qualification on it’s scope of registration.

Individuals that hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at this time are able to continue delivering training in the workplace, organisation, TAFEs and RTOs since the 2015 Standards for RTOs state that the required qualification is the “TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or its successor.” It will be a requirement from April 2019 for all Trainer and Assessors to hold the new qualification. Skills Ministers agreed that trainers and assessors who do not hold the relevant units will have until 1 April 2019 to meet the new credential requirements to comply with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
